Winemakers Notes Our 2020 Plainsman SV Chardonnay is an 80:20 blend from Apatu Farms Vineyard and our very own Middle Road Vineyard. 2020 was a stunning year in Hawkes Bay and we were delighted to be able to harvest this fruit in beautiful condition. Post pressing and settling, the juice was run off to one-year old and seasoned barrels for fermentation and MLF. Post MLF, the wine was matured in oak, on full lees, until January 2021.Tasting Notes Colour: Very pale gold in the glass at bottling, but will slowly deepen with time. Bouquet: A melange of vanilla, cream, sweet lemon, grapefruit, hazelnut, and subtle oak. Palate: This is a medium weight, rich Chardonnay. It has sweet fruit, beautiful texture and length.
